I have learned much from my Jet Stream ... mainly just how inadequate it is     {-)  (what do you expect for £14 on ebay with full rc ???)
.... well ... I came into this looking for a new learning curve !!!!!    So I'm looking for something to be the basis of a new project.

Have come across one before, went quite well.

Have a look at Astec Models, thats where most of the electre guys go to (pah electric, unclean, unclean ;))

Astec also have a pretty good (I'm told) dedicated fast electrics forum.

Much better hardware supplied with it and a better hull.
Mine has a brushless motor, nice quick boat.

Thanks Brod ... only problem is the size of my wallet (not the only thing I have a problem with the size of, according to my wife !!!)  Having been forced into retirement at 57 with various bits of me wearing out (notably the pump) this was supposed to be an interest I could follow whilst seated, and which would not take up all my Incapacity Benefit !!!  <:(   I am beginning to see the wisdom of the chap on here who said that the definition of a boat is "a hole in the water into which you pour money".    :D   Maybe I'll just buy some balsa and plywood and start from scratch (though my modelling of that ilk was predominantly rubber powered as I recall !!!)   Anyone got any plans ? (But have you seen the price of sandpaper these days ?????    <:( )

Simple equation really - fast = expensive. Faster = more expensive.

Really fast = not prepared to admit publically (in case the wife finds out) how expensive it is!!

That said, there are plans available for wooden mono hulls that can run with strimmer motors, or any other small petrol motor you can find. Or even a big methanol burner if you have one.

If you really want a fast boat then drop me a private message and I can send you some plans, but you will need an engine that costs over £300 quid plus radio plus hardware etc etc etc.

A good prop is in the region of £50.

Unhappily Glenn is right, these things are not toys anymore, certainly not kids money.

Heres a cheapish kit which would look great on the lake, giving you plenty of time to save up for the motor etc while finishing the kit off to a good standard.
I almost pressed the 'buy' button a while back for my son.

A guy at our lake has one and runs well with a £40 motor and speedcontroller.
Or just lkeep searching, there is something for everyone on the web,its just finding it!

Someone on this forum will know what I am talking about, there is a class of electric boat for racing that comes in a bag with all of the parts in the bag including the motor that I have seen people put together and have a great time running them. If i remember right they come in 5 or 6 different colors and if I remember them right they only cost 50 or 60 pounds. Don't feel to bad as half the time I suffer from CRS ( can't remember stuff ).

Good find.
We have a green one in the loft, picked it up as new with 500 motor, esc, shaft, coupler and servo all for £30.
A lake pal also has one, they run well on 6 cell, lively and very stable.
Always wondered where they come from..
