I have no idea what the name is, but it looks like it will be a slide valve engine.
The inlet is on the side of the steam chest, the same block that the offset displacement lubricator is on. The exhaust is the one on the cylinder block.
Stick a bit of oil first, then air, into the inlet and give it a flick over and it should run, that is if it isn't siezed up.
It will only run in one direction, and no guarantee of self starting, it all depends what position the piston and slide valve is in when it stops. If it anywhere near TDC or BDC on a power stroke, there is not enough momentum to get it to turn over to the next revolution.
It could be modified to run in both directions by putting a slip eccentric on the valve gear, but again, no guaranteed self starting.
