www.modelshack.com - has anyone made it work??
« on: March 29, 2009, 04:51:29 pm »

Hi all,
I have been in to my local model shop and they have said that a electric helicopter (twister) radio is avaialble as spares. I looked on the j perkins website and there it was
transmitter five channel four on sticks and one off/on switch. servo reverse on all channels  £29.99  Part no.(7710150)
also the reciever is a six channel for £9.99 part no.(7710350)

so for £40 a 2.4 ghz combo is available

anyone used a helicopter version and what range??

the website lists delivery as 1st april, so should be around early next month.

when i but one i'll let you know if it is any good

Duly noted and ordered  :-))

I will 're-home' the TX module/coax/aerial into my RD6000 computer radio after the basic test is done..

Well I ordered this from www.modelshack.com on the 10th April and so far nothing.

I've tried to ring them but the number does not exist
I've tried to use their contact page but it comes up with an error and does not mail them
I've tried emailing them direct over the past few days: nothing.

Does anyone know if modelshack has gone bust??

Hi,

I wonder if anyone can help. Has anyone dealt with ModelShack recently - or live nearby?

Well I ordered some radio gear (the new Planet 5 2.4GHz) from www.modelshack.com on the 10th April and so far nothing.

I've tried to ring them but the number does not exist
I've tried to use their contact page but it comes up with an error and does not mail them
I've tried emailing them direct over the past few days: nothing.
I'm not too worried about the money as I ordered via credit card.

Does anyone know if modelshack has gone bust??
I want the radio you see, but I'm stuck as I do not want two!!

Thanks for any help in advance!

The 'new' number above does not work either, I keep getting a message of non-available.

Any other suggestions?!

did you pay by credit card. if so you have no problems. just phone them up, give all details and demand a refund for your money under section 75 of the consumer credit act 1989.
neil. :-))

Yes sadly I'll have to.
I cannot contact the model shop by any means whatsoever and have no product, sad (and very odd) really.

Has your credit card actually been debited?

Still waiting for the statement actually, shouldn't be long now.
If it has been debited and no item has arrived I'll have to call the CC company.

My initial plan was to chat to the shop to clear up all issues, but that seems impossible.
It's just like they don't exist - but the website looks so new and up to date!

It's just so frustrating having 3 methods of communication fail (phone, email, contact page on website).
Very Odd.

Thanks Richdef, good to know they may be open.
I think they moved streets too.

The telephone number of the head of their website does not match the number on their front page however - they missed the 1 (115 not 1115) on the main page header!!
I tried the proper number and it says 'this number does not accept incoming calls'.

The contact page still does not work (it comes up with 'Permission Denied' when Send is pressed).

They never answer any of my emails to [email protected] (can someone else try please - perhaps I'm being junked?)

I'm trying to look up a shop in the same road so I can phone them and get them to find out a bit. I'll get the credit card info tomorrow I think, so I can at least see if my CC company have paid - perhaps they have a different number!

Thanks for the help!

I think they used to be in church street but according to their page here they now live at

Model Shack
7 Ballyamoney Street, Ballymena, BT43 6AL, Co Antrim, N. Ireland
Phone: 028 25 631115
Email: models @ modelshack.com

It's almost as if they exist, except the phone rejects incoming calls, the email is not answered and it's too far away to visit!
Here is the google map. Looks like they are near a one way system which may be causing them problems...

They also have a customer service address that I tried and got:
<[email protected]>: host mx00.schlund.de[212.227.15.169] said:
550 <[email protected]>: invalid address (in reply to RCPT TO
    command)

So they really are playing this internet stuff close to their chest..

Re: www.modelshack.com - THEY HAVE CLOSED
« Reply #16 on: April 29, 2009, 06:54:45 pm »

I phoned up the pub next door today (at number 9), very helpful, the shop has been closed for about two months now...
A variety of people pop into the pub to ask about them apparently....

Looks like I'll be cancelling the credit card payment now.
