Aero kits Wave master
« on: May 11, 2009, 06:24:53 pm »

Ahoy me hearties, or something like that.
My better half has at long last joined the crew and bought a Aero kits Wave master!!!
BUT and its a big but ...............  its not all there ( a bit like me!!) and so we ask you if you have any plans/ pictures or information as she who must be obeyed would like it to look authentic (but with dolls house bits decorating the inside, thus where was the galley, berths etc)

All help warmly welcome.

Regards
The Pirate

If you are talking about the Wavemaster that was sold in the sixties and seventies that was not made by Aerokits. Aerokits made the series of Sea Commander, Sea Queen etc. Best you post a photo so we can help identify what you have as a first step. Cheers, Ian.

hi pirate
The company Nor Star did the following
wave crest at 24" long
Wave rider at 28" long
Wave Princess at 34" long
I have the plan for the wave rider at home and the hull and part of the cabin
these were built in the same fashon as areokits and marketed keil Kraft in the 60's and early 70's
and then by ripmax in the late 70's early 80's
I have catalog pictures of the range as well but I am not sure if i can get them to scan if I can I could email then to you

regards
Derek

Hi

The Wavemaster was one of the forerunners of the modern (50's & 60's) boat kit featuring similar construction to the popular "Aerokits" range.

It measures 34" x 11" & was certainly available as early as 1955 when it cost 71/6.

The company also made a Spraymaster - which was similar to the popular Aerokits Sea Hornet.

As others have said - posting a photo would be good  :-))

Thought it was Yeoman, they made the Wavemaster, Spraymaster and Fisherman in the early fifties and the Minx in the mid fifties

Hello Derek, My old Waverider is still going strong and when I posted some pictures of it on here some time ago Martin (Mr Mayhem himself) asked if he could have the plans. Unfortunately after so long I have lost them. So is there any chance you could make a copy for me and him. I will of course reimburse you for any costs involved. Thanks, Graham.

Hi,
The Wavemaster was designed by L J Rowell (Les Rowell) and marketed by HMM - Hammersmith Model Makers of Holland Park Ave. London. It was 34" by 11" with a 4" freeboard. I have a (brief) trade review dated July 1952, so it was available about that time. Retail price, in 1958, including purchase tax was 71/7 or £3.58. Ripmax advertised (in 1958) a suitable electric motor, the Kako 5 (34/11) or an E.D. Hunter 3.46cc diesel at 80/11. Not much difference in power there, then!

Hi Pirate
you may have got this sorted already, but if you still need a plan try (The Retro Racing Club) will PM the address to you. I got a plan from them to help with my Wavemaster.
All the best John

Absolutely FANTASTIC response and help THANKYOU.
I was just working out how to send in pictures when 'Gandalf' sent a message to see his Wave master and today I did that with swmbo.
Taken loads of pictures and borrowed the plan. You are correct in every detail and (the royal) 'we' will be starting out on the grand restoration project!!!
Regards to you all
