hi, i have a ready made boat and have found that it runs fast or nothing! it is only a cheap one and don't really want to replace th r/c gear, are there any rotary swithces etc that could be wire to the motor to limit its power supply and slow it down? also is it possible to operate a switch or light from the motor leads when backwards is pushed on the control stick?

any help greatly received

i would replace the ESC (electronic speed controller). i found this with my first RTR boat, it was either stationary or doing full speed but once i replaced the speed controller it accelerated nicely and run smoother in general. hope this helps

I find that pictures and descriptions of what model you are sailing work wonders when looking for help and advice. Without them it might be hard for the members to give accurate advice because it seems that every boat could be slightly different?

thanks for the replies, its a cheap one with none brand/sealed radio gear from china i think! didn't know if there was something i could do to slow it down, cheaply!

you could spend between £15 and £25 on a new speed controller. that should do the job, if you have any questions about the electrical components this is the place to go, and give dave (the owner) a ring and he'll point you in the right direction
