Y leads and more

BarryM:
This may be a daft question but I do like to be sure of my ground rather than watch as smoke starts to rise.

Ok, so I can use a Y-lead off the Rx to drive two servos simultaneously but can I splice in another leg to give three outputs and expect to be trouble free?  Will current drain on Rx be too high or am I risking some other electronic nasty?

Shipmate60:
Are you using a BEC from main battery or separate power supply for the receiver.
What do the 3 servos drive?

BarryM:
Bob,

This is a work in progress and I have not made up my mind whether or not to use a BEC. Servos would be used to traverse two guns and a searchlight (light loads).

Shipmate60:
Speed controller BECS dont usually give more than 1 amp max, so would tend to go for seperate receiver pack.
Not keen on 3 servos from 1 channel though.
Any thoughts about 1 servo operating microswitch to the servos with the guts taken out?
might be worth a consideration.
My preference is to run as little from the receiver as possible with 1 servo operating switched circuits.

BarryM:
Bob,

I guess the current draw was at the back of my mind with this query. I have one model happily driving two fire monitors via a Y-lead but had a suspicion that three might be stretching a point. I have a hazy idea about using limit switches and reversing, geared, motors but will also have a think about stripped servos. I seem to remember that this is described elsewhere on this forum.

Thank you,

Barry M
