Earlier on, I posted how I needed to find an old model boat my Dad and I were going to build and run at the Lake together before I went into the U.S. Navy and Vietnam, and then he died after I returned.
So the boat had a lot of sentimental value to me,the year being 1973.
Well, the boat was the Cal-Tex Lumba Lumba and I hadn't been on here longer than two weeks when a guy, Modeler Tow Boat Joe, sent me one. It was really rough and I started asking questions on here about motors and batteries and fiberglassing the hull. I also needed a set of plans and some repro decals too.
Another guy has come thru again and is sending me the plans,a stack, some life boats, and the decals. Geez!
Do you guys know how great this site is? Wow! I love you guys and this site and all the stuff that's in here. I'm really all fired up about it.
My whole house is full of models, mainly R/C aircraft, but I have some boat and car stuff too. If you guys need any help, I want to be considered as someone that will help if I can... Thanks so much, Captain Mike Daniels

Hi Yes this is a very good forum :-)) I have only been on here for about 2yrs but the help & advice (Not just about model boats !) has been priceless :-)
Some forums have a lot of snobery  ie mine cost more , mines faster , mines better ect ect. But i have found this one to be very down to earth & plain talking.
Not everyone has £££ even ££££s to spend on hobbys that that is fully understood on here. And long may it continue.

Thanks for the positive feedback guys, I know that Martin and the moderating team all appreciate such thoughts.  It has always been our aim to maintain an open and friendly forum where there are no boundaries and we have a tremendous range of skills and abilities here with some particularly skilled in certain areas so you can get advice on everything from electronics to design to steam plants.

It's never easy to moderate effectively without being intrusive but keeping things on track and keeping the undesirables and those of a less than positive nature out are critical to success so it's nice to hear that we get it right sometimes!
