Hi not sure if anyone can help, But I'm looking for views and
opinions on the Deans Belfast hull. And I know it's a long shot
but any pictures of the hull or the finished article . Once again
thanks in advance for all your help and advice.

Dear Colin,

Just been taking opportinity to browse gnrl. posts, and seen yours re Town Class cruisers.

Did you find the info. you wanted? My best knowledge is on Belfast - the Edinburgh 'sub class' (last built -Edinburgh & Belfast), those of the Sheffield type and earlier I am not that up on - gnrl. deck fittings were very similar with the latter two sub classes, so you won't have too much trouble with deck fittings. Can help if wished.

Try looking up London Tourists Sights should plenty of pix of HMS Belfast or google HMS Belfast . com She's still afloat in the Thames and I think they have their own wed site

I think you will find that the Deans hull depicts the ship after repairs following her mining. I did do a comprehensive write up on Belfast for Model Boats magazine last year. If you are building a model then you need to be very careful as the ship was greatly modified over her life and what you see now is the sum total of the changes. Probably the best authority is Ross Watton's book "Anatomy of the Ship - the Cruiser Belfast". As far as plans are concerned your best bet are probably those in the Sambrook collection now marketed by Loyalhanna in the States www.loyalhannadockyard.com/  which depict the ship as in 1944. Ron Dean did have a few copies of these available last year though. John Haynes can supply a number of fittings, he built the models of Belfast you can currently see aboard the ship.

On my site www.johnrhaynes.com in the Portfolio section you can see photos of Belfast 1939 and 1959 that may be of help to anyone building a model . My models are 1/192 but for cruiser fittings at 1/96 see my on-line shop for HMS Sheffield and resin Walrus etc and a lot of other fittings

This will be at least one of the Belfast models on show at our open days on the 4-5-6th September, along with 100 + ships
 Come and talk to the builder, look at the hull & the fittings, and you could take one away with you and save the delivery cost, and have a good time as well.
 And talk to the nice Mr Haynes ?
