right ive finally started the shg shadow cheep as hell ic fun boat build on a 0 budget lol

so far my parts include

prop shaft
rudder                                    (needs cutting to appropriate size)
anti vibration engine mounts
2 enya 15 glo fuel motors         (which need some cleaning and carb work to free the carbs)
an shg shadow hull                   ( in a very sorry state needing a lot of fibreglass and filling work to get it up to spec and sea worthy)
servos                                     (stolen from an ic buggy lol)
2 chanel radio gear                    ( also stolen from buggy)
fuel tank clunk type
electronic starter ripmax
glo starter                                  ( from buggy also)

parts needed are

glo plug                                    (what's best for the enya 15)
water pick-up and exit                (what's best as the original is damaged beyond reaper)
aerial tube holder
prob                                         (need to fined out what's best for the engine as i haven't a clew lol)

bulk heads                                 (need to fined some plans to make these as their missing from the boat)

rubbing strip                               (for around the hull as this is missing also)
hatch                                        (need to manufacture this as also missing from the boat and mounting have been damaged)

so ive got a lot of work ahead of me ive started repers on the hull as its so thin in places and well holy in others but that's coming along nicely i will ad picks later of progress eny help with the list is as always grateful as some thing's i just don't have a clew about lol lets hope i can get this beasts wet this summer lol

been in the workshop(ok shed lol) sanding sanding and more sanding plenty of dremel work removed the old ruder mounts and porpshaft as well as half a tone of resin that wasent mixed right by the previous owner and went from rock solid to goo depending wear you tried to remove it ive fibreglass the top and hull repering all the hoals and give the full inside a coat of resin to help strengthen it all out

ive totally filed the old cut outs for the prop rudder water pick-up all 4 of them as they where waaaaay out of line next job is a bit of filling and getting it looking a lot pretiar before sorting the rest of the gear out for the installation part pix to fallow as soon as i get the cam to talk to the comp lol


any help on finding the rubber strips that go all round the boat where the 2 hulls join

and what prop size to get for the enya 15 to start with would be appreciated

ps the prop shaft i ordered on-line is no good it was bent on arrival ime looking for a good supplier that i can get all the running parts from in one go

Bent Propshaft: Send it back if it was a new purchase. (they'll more than likely send a free replacement.)

No, it's worth perusing and building, it's a great model to learn on.... but it's not a race winner.

Hi,

I got a shadow and a common problem is the rudder the standard one is far to big and will cause the nose to dive when the throttle is opened. To solve this the rudder needs to be trimmed as martin says in his build.
My shadow was converted from i.c to electric and it still is great fun just does not last as long.

cool ye ive noted the point about the rudder on my check list its getting an after market rudder to start with as i don't have the original. the pick in the build thread of the cut dawn ruder is their eny size mesuments for that as ime going to have to cut the after market rudder to shape anyway

ive run into a problem is their anybody that knows the actual length of the shg shadow's prop shaft length as the one i took out of it had been cut dawn badly and ime not sure of the correct length its been soldered half way dawn so even thou the one i ordered is bent ime not sure its the right length enyway

Looking at Martin's boat picture, the end of the tube is just under 25% of the overall length from the transom which is usually average for this type of boat.
Mark the underside of the hull at 24 or 25% of the OAL, from the transom then, using a thin rod, measure through the hull to the end of the engine coupling (or where it will be once fixed).  This will give you your tube length.

I would buy a longer than usual shaft. fit the engine temporary in place with a coupling. Slide the shaft into place. When it looks good and the ( above post measurements ) mark and cut with pipe cutter, refit bearing. There might be tell tale marks on the hull where the prop was. It worked for me sometime ago.

I am the same as someone else on this post, this was also my fisrst race boat. I think you will be well underpowered with an Enya .15. I ran a .60 and it went OK, though did experience the corkscrew anticlockwise onto the chine then the dive underwater!

Once that was sorted, it was great.

Actually, I lied , it was a .61, Webra.

Went fairly well, though I do seem to remeber the instructions being fairly specific about not exceeding a certain size of motor!!
