My sons new deep vee
« on: June 22, 2009, 05:22:50 pm »

Hi i pulled a new hull from the moulds on Saturday and my son seemed to like the looks of it and as it was his 13th Birthday today i decided to surprise him and let him have this one,it was a last minute decision so ive not had time to fix the top on yet so its just sat on in the pics.Ill power it with a slightly ported 28 cc strimmer engine as hes not ready for a zenoah yet and ill fit a tuned pipe to give it a further boost.Actually the performance isnt that far off a stock zenoah with the right pipe and prop, but anything arround 30 mph he will be more than happy.Ill remove the clutch  and use a cmb 90 collet, motor mounts will be custom made also.I recently built one for a member here so hopefully it will run as well as his at least. We have all the hardware just need a pipe and header plus ill need to make an adapter to fit the exhaust flange to the motor as the bolt spacings are different.I allready did this on the last one and it worked very well.Ill post more pics as we progress,my son will be helping me with the build so hopefully he will learn a bit as we go.

Mart,

If that is the lucky young lad sitting on the couch with his sister holding the boat, I think that you had better plan on building two of them. She looks like she might want one also. By the way, way to go on fathers day on putting something together that you and your children can enjoy together, you are truly a lucky man.

Hi Andy the orriginal was a seaquel but i did some alterations to my old one to improve its performance and looks ,its arround 1 1/2" lower than the orriginal. The orriginal ones the guy let a lot of people down with not delivering them and stopped building them and he then disapeared i was told.I was asked if i could make one for a cpl of the guys who were let down as they liked mine after the mods id made and they knew id toyed with the idea of making moulds for another vee id made from scratch. The hatch opening been the most obvious mods i made but i also removed some hook from the orriginal and redesigned a new hatch, ill post some pics of one with a hatch later. They do run well and turns are much better now too, runs a tad wet in calm water but runs great in the chop.Ive sold quite a few, some have full modded zenoahs and sikks some stock motors. My personal opinion is she runs better with a mild mod or stock motor, with the full mod she can get a bit of chine walk going on.Not the fastest hull arround but for its size it totally loves rough water.Shes 47" long 12 1/2" wide total weight of bare hull with rails and transom support is 4.4lb or 2.4 kg so she's light but i can also make em a tad heavier for those wanting something for hard running in rough water etc.Malc has one with the strimmer i modded and seems to make a nice fun boat especially good for beginers with that setup.Heres a short video of it before i sharpened his prop more and i also tuned the carb better for him after this run.Not bad for its first outing though.

Hey Malc thanks for that its good to know your happy with her,Sam is very exited about getting her up and running.I figure she will be plenty fast for him for a while,if he gets the bug i can stick a zenoah in there for him or maybe the new rcmk as ive been wanting to try one of those for a while now.

There's been a Seaquel for sale in Mainly Models, Hitchin now for about 3 years, with an SC 61 in it, so should go much better with a petrol in it. Might be a bit unstable with an RCMK in though.

Haha sounds about right lol,a mate of mine waited 6 months for his from the builder then it was rubbish so he sent it back for a replacement and never got it or his money back.I know a guy running a 5.5 hp sikk in one and it runs well but has a bit of chine walk but that said most monos get that especially in rough water.Heres a vid of it and another with a modded zen, still runs wet even at this speed when its flat calm.Mind you balance is critical with modded motors to make em handle well, some dont have the patience to experiment especially if it involves moving things to get the balance right lol.
