my billings boat bitc%
« on: October 29, 2007, 10:12:49 pm »

i'm not sure where this would go  so here it is

on  7/17/07  i e-mailed billings boat about missing parts from the rotterdam
on there e-mail missing parts report. not being sure what parts were missing
i called canada and spoke with the north american dealer.  who put kent billings
on the phone (kent owns billings) after a few jokes and some friendly chating ;)
we figured what parts were missing {-)  kent told me as soon as he got back to denmark
he would look for the parts for me. mind you this was 7/17/07 today is 10/29/07
after a number of phone calls  to canada this was todays e-mail
fromkent to  frank in canada

Hi Frank

Just to clarify the shipment of the lasercut sheets for #478 Smit Rotterdam.
We have shipped this 3 times now; first shipment was made back in August with the Danish Postal Office, tracking number CC914152717DK. Unfortunately we can only follow this to the American border, as it then is handed over to the local post administration. Second shipment was made direct from Germany in September with DPD (the German post). We unfortunately have no tracking number here.
We have now shipped it the third time last week with TNT Express, tracking number

This has been a very expensive shipment for this one customer. Shipment cost alone on all three shipments is well over USD 600.00. Then we have had to cut this specially twice in Denmark on our little laser machine, as everything is Germany.
As you also recall I gave him the lasercut sheets for the whole ship as a favor, as he was only missing some parts, but then asked for the whole thing in lasercut sheets, instead of diecut sheets.
Please explain to the customer that we have done everything we can to send this to him, but that we will not ship direct from Europe to any customers in USA anymore, as we are losing between 60-70% of all parcels, somewhere between the US customs and the US postal service.
In the future we will send direct to you and you can forward to the customer.
Best regards
 Kent

Would seem that Billing have this problem with the UK postal service to as I had more or less the same excuse.

Thats why I will not buy another Billing Kit.

Good luck Yours Colin H.

When it comes to customer service, Billings does not rank high in my book, either.

I live in the USA, and needed some Billings parts. After much to-ing and fro-ing, I contacted the company's Canadian distributor. My request went un-filled for several months, and I eventually  called their office. A smooth-voiced gent used sweet words to explain away "production problems" and "shipping delays." When he finally got around to quoting a price, the figure was so high that I laughed. The entire process, from initial contact to price quote, took about nine months. That's not the way to run a railroad, as the saying goes.

Hi Bigford

I have the Billings  Rotterdam as you know.

As I shall soon have  'Vliestroom' ready, I was planning on starting the Rotterdam soon.

Would you like me to try and copy  (somehow)  the missing bits you need ?

Ken
