MODEL EXHIBITION AT POITIERS, FRANCE.
3 and 4 October 2009.
This show is an annual event taking place 30 minutes outside Poitiers in Neuville de Poitou. Here there is a permanent show ground with a large boating lake, an extensive RC car racing circuit with pits and command post, a field for flying and several large display halls. The facility is extended for this show by several temporary buildings and various catering facilities. On the Sunday of the show a full and delicious sit down, four course lunch, with wine and coffee can be added to the price of the entry ticket at 9€ costing 20€ inclusively.
Model Boating attracts the majority of exhibitors but nearly every aspect of modelling of which one can think (and several you would never think of!) is represented. An example is a model of the Viaduc de Millau made from matchsticks! Unlike such large shows in the UK there are very few traders (about eight) and none at all dedicated to marine models.
Unfortunately I was unable to visit the show for long and one thing I missed was action on the water. I was there at lunchtime and everything stops for lunch in France!
I hope the photographs do justice to such fine displays. If not the fault is entirely mine as I am a poor photographer.
