Revolving radar

Hi,

Can someone please tell me where I can get a revolving radar motor as I am having trouble tracking one down?

got any servos lying around? check the gearset to see it it has teeth allround the final output gear, if so cut the stop dog off it, remove the electronics off the motor, and wire the servo onto 2AA cells.  will give you a steady rotation at a realistic speed

If you're short of space for the motor, look at Model Motors Direct - he has a very tiny geared motor, but its quite expensive.

Mine is out of an old computer CD drive - there's at least 3 good small motors in those.

Came Across MMM... They Do What They Call "Flick" Motors.... Seem Suitable For Turning Radars

I would agree that the Action Electronics offering is the easiest and probably cheapest solution IF you have space. I have used it myself. If however you are short of space, then the MMM one or one from Precision Microdrives takes up less room and doesn't need anything but the motor and a battery.

I found the gearset a bit confusing, couldnt get the cogs to line up, so ended up using a servo instead.

I certainly now have a good choice, so will  have to work out which is the correct one for my application.
