A bit beyond what the DSM allows me to spend on modelling, but what is a one hundred-year-old eight-foot long professional model of this quality worth? What you can get for it, I guess and ten grand doesn't seem that high in relation to what's on offer. I wish I could afford it!

looks like the kind of quality building you find in a museum piece.

whoever buys it will have a very nice model to admire and have on display.
shame the WIFE dont see models in the same light otherwise i would get a big loan  ;D

Its a very high quality boat and may attract buyers with close links to the company.
Myself, I can buy twenty or so tugs over the next 10 yrs for that sort of money. :P
So tugs it is then. ;D

Do you really think they will get that? ::)

There was a 12ft destroyer going for whatever recently, on this forum.

unless there is a really crazy enthusiast, on Ebay ???

Yes, or close to it. It's a professional model, built by/for the shipbuilder, that probably once had pride of place in the Midland Railway offices at St Pancras. I'd buy it if I had the money.

The hull is probably more or less solid. Maybe you could motorise the case and run it around in that. :D

I think that's a fairly typical price for a ship builders model but if I were the owner I'd put it in Christie's maritime sale to get the best price.

I won't take that bet.  Someone will make an offer.  Not close to the asking price, but at least an offer.  There ARE people crazier than the typical modeler, believe it or not.

I wonder if when we look at prices, we take into account some of the bonuses given to London brokers etc, they could look upon it as pocket money.
Nice little boat to go in the window of your Docklands weekend flat.

Or looking at the display case, nice littel bay window to go in your docklands flat.

Although you will need planning permission if it exceeds 10% of the existing size of your property ;D
