Brushless outrunner underwater drive
« on: August 02, 2009, 12:58:05 pm »

Alanp built an airboat to these plans:

http://www.modelboatmayhem.co.uk/forum/index.php?tic=18260.0

Deciding to improvise, Alan thought he would turn his airboat upside down and run it, without a great deal of succes, because all the magic smoke escaped!

This resulted in a redesigned speed controller, and an interesting bubble effect on the hull paint work; :-))

I was lucky then - I inverted my airboat due to switching between models without checking the rudder servo direction (reversed compared to the Hoy) - but it all still worked when dried out.

Hmmmm, been there, got the teeshirt but not the smoked ESC. Very gentle othe throttle and I miraculously got mine back.
Cheers,
Ian.

Just had a look at your site Ian, very informative, was going to ask a question on the forum about waterproofing my new ESC in case it gets another ducking, but your site  gave me the answer  :-))

As for SUNNY Bridlington, you can't kid me, I come from Hull  O0

Ah I see. Well, if you were at our Summer Open Day on Sunday then you will know it was sunny..............some of the time....... :-))
If you weren't then why not drop by with your boat on our next Open Day 27th September. You are most welcome.
Cheers,
Ian.

Cross purposes there I think Ian. I was born and bred in Hull but have lived here in the Costa del Cumbria  :}   for the last 38 years. But sometimes go to Hull for a few days holiday. Will pm you next time for a possible meet at your lake   :-))

Think it might have had more to do with the size of waves Umi rather than the prop.

Ian,  looks good for Sunday, light winds, will bring a stopwatch  :} Oh, and a rescue boat  ok2

Ian.
