New guy... just saying hi.
« on: August 11, 2009, 06:15:23 pm »

 Hey everyone I just found the site today, I've been surfing around looking at boat/ship stuff the last couple days. I did some R/C boat, car stuff years ago and I have been wanting to get back into boats again, just not sure what to start on. I have a Vietnam PBR hull that I got from a co-worker years ago, and I was thinking maybe I would start on it.
 For now I'll likely just get my Dumas Crockett back in the water as it has been in "drydock" for almost 13yrs. I need to get some new batteries and fix a few details that have been damaged while in storage.
 Anyway I'm sure that this site will be great help when I've got questions, it looks like it holds a wealth of knowledge.  :-))

Hi, welcome to the forum, think you will enjoy it on here.

Any questions just ask and you will get numerous answers, nearly all different, bit like asking the audience on millionaire.

Any work you carry out on your boats, we love photos. :-))

Hi LXbuilder,
I am in the middle of a USS Crockett refurbishment.
I bought it off ebay and it needed lots of work.
Hope yours is far better than mine is right now!!!

Innisfil? I use to know where that is...been away too long over here in blighty, well back to the Great White North next Wednesday,

welcome aboard mate, looks hot back there right now. your in the right spot for modelboats, and there is no end to the help. suggestion would be to join a club, locally if possible and they'll be lots of help.

 Thanks to all for the welcome, I was out to a Barriie Marine Modellers Tug boat event last weekend. They've got some great looking models in that club.
 I don't have much progress to report, but I am going to try to get my Crockett model back in the water soon. I'll try to post some photos when I get a few things repaired on her. The boat was never fully detailed and I think this winter I'll try to finish her up and "upgrade" the level of some of the work. It still isn't going to compare to some of the stuff I've seen here, man theres some talented folks on this site.  :}

 Found this web site on the Dumas "Crockett". Thought it may be useful:
