A problem of Scale
« on: August 13, 2009, 07:52:27 pm »

Hi everyone
I have just bought a semi completed scatch built model of the heavy cruiser
 USS Newport News.
The model is 64 inches in length and the plan states that
the scale is 10 inches to 112 feet
Can any clever person please tell me what scale that might be, and maybe how to work it out
Thanks ...

The model will almost certainly have been built from the Model Maker plan MM382. The quoted scale was 1/135.

A copy of the plans is still available from MyHobbyStore http://www.myhobbystore.com/2209/Colyer-Newport-News-Uss-MM382.html

Multiply 112ft x 12 to give you 1344 then divide by the 10inches gives you 134.4 round it up and you get 1: 135
