Red Bank Models well below average.
« on: August 24, 2009, 09:10:16 pm »

Good evening,

I came on this site a few months back and receive some excellent advice on the parts I needed for my boat. However the company I placed the order with Red Bank Models which I found listed on this site is worse than poor. I placed the order two months ago, they don't reply to emails asking where my order is. Is this company still in business?

Any help much appreciated

Stephen

I've ordered quite a few things from them recently, all arrived within a week unless they were out of stock in which case thet emailed me and gave me the option of waiting for new stock or a refund.

I received an email from them this evening telling me that my latest order has been dispatched today, I ordered it on Saturday.

I have never had anything but good service from this seller, are you sure you have the correct email address?

I recently ordered some parts of him, some portholes and some blades, I was in a rush for the portholes as they where the only thing i needed to Finnish a boat, I put in the comments urgent when ordering. two weeks later  I was still waiting so I emailed to find out , a week later I received an out of stock notice, so I cancelled and ordered from Deans, they arrived within 2 days, two weeks later I received the parts from Redbank, I had been a supporter of them in the past but never again , if it was for a larger amount I prob would have sent them back but it's not worth the hastel , so unless you cannot get the stuff anywhere else steer well clear.

I placed an order with Red Bank models a few weeks back.

To cut a long story short they informed after 5 days that they had still not dispatched my order because they were waiting for delivery of one of my items, (which was shown as in stock when i placed my order).

I was pretty peeved to find this out after 5 days and canceled my order, to the credit of Red Bank models they refunded my payment straight away.

A few years ago if buying stuff by mail order.. 5 days to inform us that our order might be nearly ready for dispatch would probably have been acceptable, probably even par for the course but these days because we are used to getting good service from amateur ebay sellers we now expect service from a professional seller to be at least as good, well i do anyway.

I placed the very same order with Cornwall Model Boats the same day I canceled with Red Bank, I had to get the card out as they don't take paypal but it was worth it, order arrived wthin 48 hours, excellent communications, postage at cost, (I like that a lot), I know where I will shop in future.

I received an email apologising for the problem and explaining what had happend (personal ) so under the circumstances I will give them the benefit of the doubt and use them again.

Thanks for that Proteus, some wouldn't have bothered to update after the fact.
