Boys Book of Model Boats - how we used to build them!
« on: August 28, 2009, 10:47:02 am »

While looking for something else I came across this little gem of a book about model boat building which dates back to 1920. You can read it all online. I found it quite fascinating.

What a great find, Colin. Just skimmed through it, but I shall read it in more detail later.

Raymond Francis Yates always made it seam so easy in his books, but they were the books of dreams for many a young lad. It was some of his descriptions that got me hocked into model making and live steam. I am glad that it is available, and hope that his works still inspires someone into modeling.
Regards,
Gerald.

I love those old black and white photos of how it all started.
Would be interesting if someone started a thread from yesteryear,
to show us youngsters how is was done in those days.

After nearly 100 years the lead acid battery is still the power source of choice for many boats. Such is progress.
