Oilite bushes

Hi All
Can some of you engineering experts help please, is phospher bronze the same thing as sintered bronze (Oilite), and if not does anyone know where to obtain sintered bar stock.

No it's not the same- PB is just solid metal- scintered has pockets of air in that release oil as it gets warm.

Just google 'oilite' bushes for best price.

Hi, Dont think you wiil get Stock as the bushes are made with powered metal & moulded under very
 high pressure, hence the accurate sizes you get.

Hi.
One thing to remember is to fit these bushes with a sizing pin, as they are not recommended to be reamed
 because this will close the pores in the bush so defeating the object of using this type of bearing

I'm not sure what you intend this material for but for most applications where there is not too much heat I find iether ptfe or molyidumum filled nylon are better (propshaft bearings etc)
Oilite is difficult stuff to machine on most modelmakers lathes, you will need something a bit more serious (Myford, Boxford,Harrison,Colchester etc)
