Airsea Rescue Launch
« on: October 29, 2009, 12:51:44 am »

I have enlarged the Pritchard plan for the Thornycroft A.R.S.L. To 48" My lack of experience prompts me to ask for advice in the choosing of elec.motors and props for this vessel. Can anyone help please? I need to know motors size, battery types and sizes, prop diameters and pitch. and availability of all of these items, particularly prop shafts and hardware. Thank you in anticipation.

Do the enlarged drawings show the Prop in detail. ?  Can this be measured. ?

A small rule of  'my thumb'  is convert the length of the ship in inches to millimetres. For example, a 40 inch ship has a 40mm prop.

I know it's only a rough guide but don't shoot me down in flames.   ok2

Yes they do I shall measure it, although your rule of thumb would make it 48 mm and that looks about right. Thanks Kenny anything on the other questions?

So, you can choose between premade forty-five or fifty millimeter props, or have them custom made at exactly 48.
