Hi,
Your friendly epoxy seller should be able to sell you some silica powder for thickening, its used in 1:1 boat building. You can also get wood flower, which colours the epoxy mix to something approaching natural wood.

I steal and add the wife's talcum powder. It's cheaper than buying anything and smells a whole lot better than epoxy adhesives when sanding down!! 8)

Guess talc is ok for model boats, but for 1:1 the silica powder adds a lot of strength.

How much talc do you use? or is it a case of just as much as the required consistency needs?

As you say I just add enough to suit the job in hand. In most cases I only use the filler/epoxy mix when I have run out of car body filler and only need small amounts as it can be expensive otherwise!  ;)
