Hi guys, is it possible to replace the central screw which pulls the aft section tight to the wtc seal?  The one i have doesnt seem to be tightening up right?

Also is there some kind of o-ring seal that fits over this central screw before it enters the front end cap?

Thanks

The central screw is built up of about 4 pieces and yes there should be a rubber seal among them ....show a pic of what you have and will tell you if its correct.

If you don't have all the pieces made up correctly or bits missing it will never fit right . :o

Ps did you make it or buy it ready built, as the plans show quite clearly how this should be made up with the seal.

Regards Sub. :-)

Old inner tubes provide an endless supply of flat rubber gasket material for model submarines. Slice them down the middle and open out. Cut out a small circle of rubber, punch a hole through the middle- job done. Better than an o-ring in many instances.

I took the central screw out and it seems that it never had the proper parts fitted? I think there was supposed to be some kind of collet and seal?

Any pointers sub?

Thanks

Hi Russ,on my U47 i locate a 5mm hex into the front bow that then locates a threaded end into the rear section, the female connection thats on the front of the rear section, has a cone on the end of it and the front threaded bolt has an inverted cone so that when its all tightened up it pulls the rear section together,..is this the part you are on about,

Hi Russ.

Yep they made a B.lls of it looks like !

As you say it should have a collet and rubber " bung " type seal fitted,

If I may make a suggestion when you make a new one SILVER SOLDER  it together not soft solder as per the instructions as this makes it VERY much stronger.

Do you have the drawings and schematics for this joining part / rod.

I will scan the pics I have in from the destructions for you.

Regards Sub. :-))
