Try the http://modelfireboats.com/  a site for model fire boats but was originaly for aerokits boats, there is a link to one on ebay an unstarted kit at present 34" there is also a chap who sells the46" kit 12th scale all wood he is also a member on there. Mike Cummings who runs the Vintage Model Workshop group.

you can buy a hull for  the 34" or 46" boat http://www.kingstonmouldings.com/pdrafcrashtender.htm.

I have gone down this route

I built mine on one of there hulls but did not use any of the rest, I just got a bare hull, I built it similar to my 34" boat.

Most of the fittings I have made, I did not make the vents on the larger boat 34" but did on the smaller boat, the main reason is I don't like the white metal ones available they are far to heavy and inaccurate and the amount of work required to clean them up you may as well make your own , if you can solder and use a razor saw you are part way there..

I'm sure HS93 won't mind me responding. A razor saw is a fine tooth, thin bladed saw, usually with a strengthning piece along the top of the blade.

dougal99 that is much better than I would have found, thank you for that.these little saws although shown cutting wood will cut brass no problem especially if you use the miter block. I use K+S brass from model shops it comes in all shapes and sizes is nice to work and cheap, I have built up a selection over the years, thee are so many shapes available because it is thin walled it is easy to use, I did a fewsmall builds some years ago on hear that give an idea also look on the fire boat web site there is a minifire boat build and I have pictured all the fittings being made so that may give you an idea. this is a picture of one of my first builds, it was made with just a dremel drill and hand tools the barrel was made of several rods and tubes and some file work in the dremel the base was done in my electric drill with some soft plastic. I bought a fret of john Hayens sights. the bolts are 16 BA holding it together.
