if you are use Kaowool 1.5mm insulation- very good properties and compresses well- it's what the model loco guys use.

I thought that too, but the catalogue states it can be- must be hollow fibres.

I went with automotive exhaust bandage/wrap. Making a stainless steel clamshell jacket/casing with external wood lathes for that scale look... .
