Surfacing
« on: February 14, 2010, 08:02:20 pm »

Hey Guys,

I have a couple of questions regarding how to finish the exterior of a hull of a boat.  In the past, I've simply sanded the hull down and covered it with 2 or 3 coats of oiled based marine paint... and that seems to do the trick however it is not as smooth or as shiny as I would like.  Do you guys have any materials or methods that you could send my way? Thanks for any and all help.

Over here we would use sanding sealer followed by Aerosol primer and several coats of aerosol gloss paint as used in the automotive trade.

Rub down with fine wet and dry sandpaper between coats and make sure the surface is dry before applyng the next coat.

Make sure you use the same make and type of primer and paint, ie acrylic etc.

Hi Ghost,
I believe that in the States the paint they use in the spray cans is 'Krylon' make.  :-))
Hope this helps.
Derek.
