I feel sorry for parents of young children waiting for their birthday cards and presents. It was 3-30pm today before we had a delivery. What ever happened to the early morning deliveries we used to get? I used to open my birthday cards as a child before I went to school.

RM management took a dislike to paying for very early starting times in sorting offices.  When mail was sorted starting at 4.30 or 5.00am, deliveries could start earlier.  If you start sorting later, or with less resources, the delivery start gets pushed back.

Royal Mail may now start a little later in the sorting office, maybe 3 hours, but the delivery is about 7 hours later, a lot more exspensive and unreliable.

Opposite direction for me.  Ordered goods from Scotland 4.30pm yesterday. Delivered Hampshire today at 9.30am, To be signed for delivery. Postie knocked, I signed.

Never had any serious trouble with Royal Mail but find that post to my son in America arrives in about one week compared to two weeks plus from the US to England.  No idea why or which side of the pond is at fault.
