Magic mate, looks really good on the water. Mine should be back by Friday, everything lower and lighter now...no gel cells, just a pack of those high output AA sized cells laid on the hull floor, three servos taken out, bow thruster taken out....she's really been on a diet!!

I'll get some pics Friday and return the compliment...

Cheers Grant,

Rich

Interested to hear if lowering the CofG with the AA cells means your able to get away without fitting her with some sort of keel to help stablility.

got me thinking firstly this could be photoshopped  ;) but i remembered i have heard a story of a carrier capt. turning hard at high speed and the deck tilted to nigh on 45 degrees. so there's nothing wrong with ours its as it should be just scaled down {-) {-) {-) {-) {-)

also my nimitz appears to have a narrower deck, do you think this would make it handle worse, better, or the same, in theory. though that link is a pic of nimitz so possibly the same {-) {-)

True, but mine didn't want to come back upright again!! I've loads of pics of carriers in similar leans during their pre-commissioning trials, it's amazing just how far they can lean without falling over....bloody glad I wasn't onboard during these trials!!!

I wouldn't have thought that there would be a great deal of difference really mate, it's down to the top weight isn't it? I guess the answer is an external keel, but I don't really want to go down that road unless I really have to. I did think of using a keel made of steel bar and attaching it to the hull using magnets, so when the boat is on display or in transit the keel could be simply popped off, if it comes to it that's probably what I'll do.

Not given up, but until the nerve damage in my hand repairs itself, I'm leaving it on stand by. I'm only going to make a cock of things if I carry on with the build with no feeling in my fingers, so it's best to leave it until things improve.

Been there, done that. Don't wish to be the bearer of bad news but you're in for a looooong wait. (And even after that, things'll never be the same again).
Rx'ed your PM, btw. Thanks for that, but I don't think they'll have have me because......... nah, it's a long story.

Hi shipmates.

I'm also building this marvellous ship kit. I have also bought White ensign models photo etch's and alot more aftermarket parts.
But i have huge problem. My ships instructions are at china or japan or some mumbojumbo that i cant understand.  {-)
Can someone help me at little problem. I need to know what paint i need to use and where. :) Gray, red, etc, etc of course but what gray, and what red? I planned to use Vallejo model air paints. Is there any on line color chart that let me know the real colors?

Thanks
-Herkko
