Not quite true. The anchor cable/ chain is not a standard length per link. For instance, would you expect a VLCC to have an anchor cable with links the same size as a harbour tug? Of course not. In fact, many small vessels have "unstudded" chains. The "stud" is only there to prevent the chain binding (locking up) and so preventing the the chain from running free. A small vessel could well have links as small as 4" in length ....so you make your choice. There is a table of sizes required somewhere, but I'm just too tired to look for it at the moment. BY.
