Newsflash...
Flight deck operatives on the USS Enterprise aircraft carrier were today shocked after the ship answered a distress call from a private aircraft, which had suffered an engine malfunction and requested urgent permission to land on the carrier.
Permission was granted, and the flight deck crews prepared for a full emergency landing...they were amazed to see a second world war fighter plane land aboard the carrier.
The Arado single seater fighter, a restored WW2 German Luftwaffe plane had lost it's propellor in flight, but managed a perfect 'engine out' landing on the carrier's flight deck.
Flight deck superintendent Lt.(name disallowed due to security reasons)said afterwards "I've never seen anything like this happen aboard any carrier I've served on, the pilot made a perfect landing, and landed the warbird without putting a scratch on the plane, the carrier or himself".
