I have bought a used Riva Riviera which I admire greatly but...
I found that the motor/coupling/prop-shaft were not aligned correctly as the motor sits on a rubber pad of some sorts, meaning that an extra turn of a screw pushes the motor in that direction.
I noticed when first running the motor that it didn't purr quietly and that it made a rrrrddd sound. On examination I found that the prop-shaft was slightly bent and that both plastic inserts in the tube were of an oval shape, meaning the shaft had over time wore them out allowing the shaft to vibrate.
I have now found that I can't buy the inserts separately and I need to replace the whole prop shaft and tube.
I started dis-mantling the innards, then found that the tube was in-cased in a white hard substance (Cascamite?) Please could someone advise me the best way to remove the existing aluminium tube without damaging the boat? I have a feeling that I'm about to embark on a mission of destruction.....

Thanks
