What did you do today?
« on: April 24, 2010, 03:42:33 pm »

I'm just back from Lochindorb where my sons and I gave my tatty old Graupner Carina a run. The Loch was a bit on the rough side and she struggled a bit with her old 360 motor.

It was the first time we have been able to get boating this year and it was great fun. Forgot to take the camera though, next time.

Due to bad weather I had to leave any fun construction alone so me and the missus went to check on our daughter who is recovering from a bone marrow donation she made a couple of days ago.
Took her to the shops and got her some lunch, wonderful kid that one.

Been dowloading images from my camera.

Here is a pic of my favourite boating location, Lochindorb as it looked in February. The ice was over a foot thick in some places where we could see cracks.

This Loch is about 30 metres deep in the middle and there is an island with a ruined castle on it, it was stormed by Edward II in the 1300's and was once home to the 'Wolf of Badenoch', a rather ill tempered noble who you wouldn't want to meet on a dark night.

Great for boating too!

Went for a quiet sail with a few off here.
Myself and Old Dodes got pecked by a narky swan.
There are even posters warning about it.
Good job they don't have teeth, but they can give a nasty little nip.

With a little bit of judicious cropping that picture would be work of pure art. Glorious. BY.

Down to the lake minus a boat because it was cold and raining...but the lake, only 2 miles from home ..was warm, dry and sunny. Such is weather. Met some interesting people researching for a future book to be published by "English Heritage" about model boating in the N.East...part of their series "Played In Britain". Still wish I'd taken a boat though. BY.

"Ginny D" (Springer) and I crossed the 49th parallel and went boating on Como Lake (east of Vancouver).  Several friends there with mostly tugs and workboats.  A sprinkle, a few clouds, and a sunbreak.  A good day.  Sorry, no photos.   :-))
