Sudbury's (Suffolk) Model Boat Pond
« on: May 14, 2010, 09:07:39 pm »

My Mother lives in Sudbury and when we last visited she mentioned that there was a Model Boat Pond in Sudbury. She explained where it is and we went for a look. It is by the large Church in Sudbury, 5 minutes from the Town Centre. It is raised, so no bending to launch boats, seats all around. In a Park. parking, yes, but a walk just the same. About 3 feet deep I would say and quite large, about 90 feet by 60 or larger, rectangular in shape. when we looked it was filthy, floating empty beer bottles and a dead furry animal, large one too, cat or rabbit. I didn't look closer! Could well be a weed problem in Summer.
It could well be the local Alkhies meeting place or maybe I got it on a bad day in Winter. Do you know if there are Model Boaters in Sudbury, if so, do they use the pond? Anyone out there know?

I used to live in Gt Cornard for some years 1992 - 1984, %% and in all the time I never came across an all model boat club, they did have an R/C model club that covered all types of R/C models. I last used the pool some time back must have been 2002or 2003, and the water was O.K then as I could see my sub on the bottom, Glad that it is still there  :-))and not broken up.
