Hello, This is my first post regarding my first powered model build. I am building a tug to be used for retrieval of stranded vessels of my sailboat club.
The boat is selected since the club already owns 1/15 plans for the MACDUFF "FORTH" 9. Length is 595mm, beam is 260mm. I am going to use steerable kort nozzles and am trying to decide between Prop Shop and MMM. Prop Shop looks like a stronger design with fewer parts (less to fail). Am I missing something?
I am a very experienced builder, so the construction process does not worry me. I am most interested in how well it performs and reliability. A scale model is not the priority. A functional tug is the goal.
Also, is a steerable nozzle indeed better than a nozzle with rudder? Research seems to indicate that the rudder will not work as well at slow speeds.
Thanks
