Interesting Links
« on: January 07, 2007, 04:00:12 pm »

Dear All,

In return for the lots of help offered by Mayhem members, I have spent some hours looking for interesting info I have not seen elsewhere to date, and I hope you find it interesting! (and hopefully useful as well). One Link/site shows what might be the largest scale model seen... anywhere!!! - it weighs 70 tons!!! (a liner). Other Links take you to Forums similar to Mayhem in other parts of the World (though they don't quite compare with the quality of 'our' Mayhem!!!), and there are other Links that seem to list nearly ever model club in the World! Anyway, it's a good mixed bag of useful info and I hope you enjoy it!

Regards, Bernard2

Some favourites below.
http://www.shipmodeling.net/vb_forum/
http://cs.finescale.com/forums/7/ShowForum.aspx
http://www.rcgroups.com/boats-54/

And then there are a few favourite sites for "real" ships etc, which often have great photos and material on operations of the real things. A great example of this for tugs (and other things too), is my most recent discovery at
http://www.solentwaters.co.uk/

but I also use the fab database at
http://users.skynet.be/sky42086/
There's some setup involved, but just click on "TugsList" at left hand side of the page to access the DB of over 21000 individual tugs.

And don't miss
http://www.shipsnostalgia.com/index.php

There, that's enough to be going on with. If some of these don't work, it maybe because they require registration - try lopping off everything in the address after the first (single) slash so you can navigate from the home page.

Dear Dan,

I am pleased you like the info. and find it useful. I am still working my way through that second Link of mine (homepages), it seems to go on forever!!! Kas has supplied good info. Links as well.

Regards, Bernard2

Just a little note to everyone: to keep the 'load' on the Mayhem site to a normal min., could you copy all the Links over to your PC please and access the Links 'off-Mayhem' rather than access while on-line to the Mayhem site. If all the Links are copied to one email and then sent to yourself, each can be accessed and then chosen/saved to Favourites as wanted.
