Deans Marine Dufresne Question
« on: May 17, 2010, 01:28:30 pm »

Hi All

Can anyone please tell me what motors would be suitable for the Dufresne.

Also,being  a twin,do I need 2 esc's?

If not,how would I control the speed on each motor?

Thanks

Ask Deans about motors.

Fit Action P94 this includes 2 speed controllers and a mixer which works 4 different ways.

Speak to Dave at Action he will sort you out.

To control 2 motors independently you will need 2 speed controllers. You can then either:

use two radio channels and control each motor manually ie right and left thumb.

Or

Use a mixer with one radio channel. The mixer tends to slow the inner motor when turning and can reverse the inner motor on full rudder giving the opportunity to turn in the boat's length.

If you opt for two channel control of the motors you do not need a mixer.

In my experience a mixer allows easy control form the outset but the control mix is set by the mixer. Independent control is more flexible but takes a little practice to master.

What motors do Deans recommend?
What voltage is preferred?
Was there any props with her?

Hi Bob

Comes with 2 Brass Props and rudders,I emailed Deans and this is the reply.

Suggested is 2 x kondor 11 motors + 2 x nycrome exl couplings 2.3mm / M4

They don't say whether 6 or 12 volt,I think I will go for 6 volt,unless someone
advises otherwise.

Deans usually quote for 7.2 volts.

Have several boats with Deans Kondors and as Bob says, all run on 7.2v, should give nice scale speed. :-))

Hi Martin

That nice one that went on ebay is the one I won, with 3 seconds to go.

I thought the price was good, and as you say,it looks like a nice model.

I wanted something to sail while building my Loyal Class Tender, and I have always
liked the Dufresne.
