I want to learn about steam!
« on: April 20, 2006, 08:54:38 pm »

Hi.

Does anyone know any good source of info regarding how to install, set up and operate steam plants for model ships? (Please don't say 'your local club' as they dont do steam).

Having seen the sadly no longer available cheddar plants and the ASC site, these little installations have whetted my appetite.

But how do you plumb them in, operate them, keep them oiled etc, etc

Cheers.

For steam of all kinds its the place to be .You will find all the main manufactures as well as a host of guys who have used steam in their model boats. Dates are the 5,6,7th of May I think.

Hi

I'll just add a link to a video I did today that has a really nice drift net staemer in it. He tells me that it goes for 40-45 minutes on a fuel-up. I reccon it went that long today! I love the steamers too!
Here's the vid. http://www.magpieyachts.com/files/23apr06SurreyParkClip.wmv

But Google will translate it for you  - use the language tools and copy this URL, it will then translate the site as you surf.

Jan,

In general I agree about machine translation, but for this site it makes it possible for someone with no German (me) to understand what is on offer - I have tried it and will probably buy from them.!
