« on: May 31, 2010, 07:41:45 pm »

Hi

I hope somebody can help me. I am new to model boat building but have in the past built some Aeroplanes.
I am trying to find out what colurs I require to paint my Sir Kay Minesweeper. Does anybody know

Thanks in advance.

I don't know what the colours are but I suggest you contact White Ensign Models

http://www.whiteensignmodels.com/acatalog/Online_Catalogue_WWII_Royal_Navy_Colours_45.html

They do all the colours and I'm sure they will be able to advise what is appropriate

You could PM wallace, he is doing the Sir Lancelot which is the same class of ship.

This is a subject I've been wondering about myself, I also have this kit (and will be starting work on it next month hopefully) and would like to paint it in "Western Approaches" camouflage rather than the usual overall grey. I know many armed trawlers (including presumably some of the Round Table class) were painted like this, but I haven't yet managed to find any photos of a Round Table class ship in camo.
If all else fails I'll just have to base the camo pattern on photos of other trawler classes, but it would be nice to be able to use the correct pattern!
