I'm looking for any info on a ship called the Lakemba, it served cargo and passenger route from Australia to Canada and West Coast US in the early 60's

Thanks in advance

Welcome to Mayhem. You might have some luck tracing that ship on www.shipsnostalgia.com    Let us know if you find anything.

Arrow,
Thanks for the great site! Nothing on Lakemba there but it is easy to lose track of what you went looking for!

Agreed Brian, I can spend hours on that site. Your ship isn't a refrigerated meat or fruit carrier by any chance ? See Jerome Morris on RCGroups.com (in Scale Ships pages)who has a large "banana boat" under restoration. Your ship is vaguely similar, same period at least I`d guess. Jerome is a pro modeller based in Maine USA and has done some research on his model.

Brian, here is another photo of the "Lakemba" for you: http://www.photoship.co.uk/JAlbum%20Ships/Old%20Ships%20L/slides/Lakemba-02.html

She was a motorship so you may find more if you search for M.V. or M.S. Lakemba and NOT S.S.Lakemba
