Hello all, I need a small supply of 3/16'' bore flexible tubing capable of withstanding steam at 65lbs pressure...also suggestions for type of retaining clip to secure pipe to fittings...where in u/k may this be obtained.

unless you get it Right have the number of a good doctor to do a skin graft, can it not be done in copper 65 psi is a bit high for tubing readily available in a modeling size , it's prob no problem when you go up in size but at the sizes we need it would I think be expensive.

Try this, we used to use it for compressed air at over 100psi. I cannot say how it would behave with steam so a call to the shop will be required.

Hi Dueller, sent them off an email, I know there is a product out there which will do this but can not set my eyes on it yet...Peter perhaps my inital post, lacking the information that the tubing had to hold 65lbs for only a few seconds then dropping to around 20lbs was not very well put...solid pipe for what I am trying to achieve would not work for me...thank you for your comments and help,

I had some success with that reinforced nylon-type of gas tube - looks like a fishnet weave in it.

I had it on the pressure spigot (where the weight should fit) on my domestic pressure cooker, leading to my engine.  OK, the pressure is nothing like as high as 65psi but the temperature was considerable as the tube had to pass over the gas flame.

The major nuisance was to secure the joints - jubilee clips distort the tube so much and, when hot, the steam would escape from that little bit where the clip is not really circular.  Two clips close together at 180 degrees sort of cured that.

Hi Geoff, this is relating to a little experiment I am working on...the steam pressure is coming from a Stuart turner 504 boiler with blow of set at 65 lbs pressure will drop very quickly to just over 20 lbs...as to Jubilee clips at that size of pipe...I do not think so...there is a type of powerfull spring clip which I have seen on race cars and track buggies for holding fuel system pipes, now looking into that.

you may find there is a crimp type that will do.

Have a look at "Goodrich Aeroquip" hoses and fittings, brake lines are Stainless braided and have clinch fittings.

this may be the way to go as they will take heat no problen and the bike and race ones are very thin and can be got terminated any lenth
