New memeber to the Forum

Hi ! Guys I am Lotus 1 my modelling experience goes back to when I was 14yrs old, starting free flight model A/C and then on to flying R/C. During the the peroid from late 1950 to 1980 because of oversea travel for the company I work for, my modelling time was limited, but as I came up for retirement in 1993 I visited the Eaton model boat pond in Norwich and saw a number of scale models being sailed, being a scale nut I decided I would like to start building an off- shore fishing boat, which is one of a number of scale boats I have today, I joined the Norwich Model Boat soon after my first viisit to the pond, and over the years held most poistions on the committee, retireing as Commodore two years ago. I have now started building a semi-scratch model of the deep sea tug "Lloydsman" which I am finding hard to get information on the rear deck, I have a builders drawing, but it does not cover in detail the information I require on the height from the deck level to the top of bulwarks. At 93yrs old I am hoping to finish it before I go above.

Hi Lotus1 and welcome to mayhem

Is this the ship you are doing ?  The information is on the web if you do a search on Google. You may find the details you are looking for. I found it interesting as I didn't know much much about her.

There is this film of a model on YouTube that might hive you an idea of relationship between the parts.

Hi Lotus

If you click on the YouTube file above the film will roll. Enlarge it to full screen and stop the film at 0.15 seconds.

This will present you with the rear/above view of the stern.  Out with the ruler and work out the proportions.  This is how I scratch build some of my boats. Just figure that a doorway is a bit taller than a man to get the scale.

Let us know how you get on.

Ken

Hi Lotus 1,

In addidion to Ken; the builder of the tug in the movie can be reached either through his website, or by sending him a message via You-tube, but you'll have to sign up as You-tube member yo be able to use that option.

The website and message option can be found on his You-tube page:
http://www.youtube.com/user/AkulaII

Maybe he can help you out with drawings, measurements or even plans.

Regards, Jan.
