What thickness window plastic?
« on: August 25, 2010, 07:41:30 am »

Due to a careless over-spray which I can't get at...... %)

I have decided to remove all the plastic/acetate window glass from my new to me Police launch and replace it with brand new shiny stuff, but looking on the auction site there are lots of different types and thickness's, most of it is advertised in Microns...could somebody advise me what thickness will be suitable please?

Thanks
Nige

Nige,
It depends on the shape.
If it has to be bent round corners the thinner ones are better.
If it is just square frames it doesn't matter much as you can hardly see the thickness.

It's all flat sheet, but I don't want to buy some then find it's flimsy cellophane that you buy birthday cards in  :}
Most of it is advertised as 220 or 225 microns....I know that's about a quarter of a mill, but I can't visualise it... :-)

Have a look at this, it will probably help.

http://www.cornwallmodelboats.co.uk/acatalog/acetate-sheet.html

0.5mm to 1.0mm will probably do you.

Hi Nige

Buy your wife a nice big box of Chocs in clear plastic and ask for the box back.    8)

Buy a bottle of "Rola-Cola" from the local supermarket, open and throw the contents away, slit and cut to size. You can get coloured containers too  O0

Hi

Take a sheet of acetal presentation slide material
Laminate it inside a laminating pouch
You can obtain both in various micron scales
If you are crafty you can print an image ( Jimmy Buchan) on the presentation slide
or if you want print your own image

Before slinging the contents, consider this.

But if it was the diet muck, yes, sling the contents as a matter of good sense.

Hi Nige52,
if you have a cake of blank Cd's there,s normally a clear disc each end or buy a few empty CD cases  only a few pence each.
