Hi,

Was wondering if there is any experience out there of whether the Hooben Perkasa model steers OK with just rubbers or whether a mixer is recommended.
I have 2 20A ESCs and a mixer or a single 50A ESC no mixer option available.


Whats  the school of thought here?

depends if you want to control each motor individually using the sticks on at least a 4 channel rx, or use 2 esc' through one channel a mixer would be easier to control the craft have a look at actions mixer units they give you control on the ammount of mixing

and its rudders ... not rubbers  

you can use a single esc then you wont need the use of a mixer, mixers are there to control 2 esc's and a rudder function (as such, or bow thrusters)

nah...rubbers is much better.....haha....doah!!! 

have a couple of 4/5 channel sets so thats not a problem....just wondered about the actual handling either way

OK setup using 2 esc's and a mixer from action http://www.action-electronics.co.uk/mixers.php

if you haven't already purchased esc's look into the P94 duel esc rated 20A and a mixer built in one unit,

if you have esc's already a P40 will do the job.

personally for any boat that requires the use of 2 props and rudders i would use a mixer just for pure simplicity of driving the model. only time i wouldn't use a mixer with duel props would be if the boat required steering via either prop slow on speed the other etc.

Thanks Mr Prophet,

have another twin screw with one motor on each stick.... a little tricky at times, especially as the battery drops as then seem to get one motor slightly slower than the other, but great for manoverability.

have looked at the P94 and think its likely an option for a future build, but already have 2 Mtronics 20A ESCs and a mixer (£55) in my 'box of tricks', so will give them a whirl for starters I guess.
