It's true that flair can have that meaning au française, but only if the subject of the sentence is a dog.

If the subject is a person on the other hand, it generally means intuition, though you won't be surprised to learn that it can also mean flair or style, which is probably what Rick originally intended.

Yes Roger, before I provoke an international incident (I really don't think the french smell that bad), I should point out that what I hoped I said, in translation, was "Expatriate Mayhemers do it with a Gallic flair."

I should add that I took my "O" level French exam in 1961 -  and failed!

You mean the most fun involves oversize wellies, a sheep and a cliff?

All this controversy over a bumper Sticker in French...... I don't know if I should be flattered or perplexed!

Here in the Vendee they would probably say, " Les bateaux Vendeeien, apres, rien -ah". [All statements which imply finality, require an "ah" at the end in the Vendee, hence "Aurevoir - ah". Don't ask me why].

Incidentally, any Bumper Sticker in France would be a novelty as they are virtually unheard of. However, just as baked beans are now offered for sale in our local supermarket (at a price!) I guess Stickers will arrive.

Roger in France.

Wilfull and relentless destruction of Old Town Padstow to fulfil his appetite for fame and fortune.

Padstow made Stein, not the other way around.  If it wasn't for the fisherman of Padstow, he wouldn't know one end of a Sea Bass from the other!! ;)
