Does the guy who runs this outfit want business or not? Anyone know?

Mailed him about 7 - 10 days ago about his steam generator 'old smokey' to find out the cost etc. Why he cant put this basic info up on his site I dont know. Needless to say, no reply as yet.

I run a business myself and if that was the level of service my customers got, well, nuff said!

Why bother if you're not going to provide a service?

Hello
I suggest you read all the JJC related posts before going any further in your quest for a smoke unit.
Others will come to his aid saying that he is a very busy bloke sometimes working away from home but as you say its no way to run an outfit.
I would love to see a poll or something of who has a JJC unit of any description that did what it was meant to right out of the box i bet there wont be many.
cheers

I have to admit to being a satisfied customer, my sound unit and smokey are great, I agree about the contact thing though, think he should have a sales manager, he has a high end job i think

Having bought both 'old smoky 2' and a sound system from Jim, my only complaint would be his lack of 'after sales' customer service. My slave sound unit was faulty and he had it back for attention, no problems with the service there. But the unit is still faulty, and I've not had a reply from emails sent last week ?.. It's a pity as his product could be a world leader.

Hi all
I have bought several of JJC sound units , the first one did`nt work as it should , but Jim fixed it quickly without any delay, last year I ordered 3 units , send him cash in the mail , the money never showed up, but without any cost to me he just send me the units for free, thats what I call extended service !
You can buy the products from Westbourne models I think to the same price as Jim offers on his web page, not sure if the smoke unit is in their catalogue !

Bought my son for Christmas , one lovely sound unit and attatchments, only to find on the day ( nothing special like!!!) that it did not work....profuse sorries to son who took it on the chin. Sent item back special recorded, no response for 1 month two days. Many abortive phone calls later, one, a promised return of call that never happened. Finaly when my patience snapped and I sent a stroppy E mail to said company...on the very same day, unit arrived in jiffy bag with no explanation etc....but at least it works.
Moral of the story
GREAT unit
shame about the customer care.
Just a little return of call or a memo to keep the customer passified is what is needed.
Regards to all

I've no axe to grind here - I don't know Jim Casey and I've no personal experience of his goods or services, but let me see if I understand this:

The guy runs this business and also has a full-time job elsewhere;
His products are fairly sophisticated but frequently don't work straight out of the box;
He is very difficult to contact and seems to take an age to reply;
His solution to most problems appears to be a free-of-charge replacement.

If I've got my facts straight then I doubt whether he's making any money out of this. If his products are (eventually) as good as most people have said then my advice would be to take advantage of whatever goods and services he does offer while he's still in business.
