Another Tamar query
« on: March 28, 2011, 04:50:41 pm »

Hi all,

re Speedline Tamar.

SA58, Roof Alarm Bell;  I've found the resin base, but.... where is the round bit that sits on top of the base??

In the photos it's painted white with a red band

I've fixed the cabin and the flying bridge together, and am busy getting smooth joints and lines, it's all filling and rubbing down!!!
Damn difficult getting a good finish between the flying bridge and the perspex bulkhead/deck, bits keep getting in the way of sandpaper and my podgy fingures!!!!

Hi Ken,

re SA58; I can't find it either. There is the 0.5 perspex round on the first perspex sheet, and a cast resin base but no alarm bell itself.

Adrian, help us out here! Is it in the kit or do we scratch build it?

Hi.
I hoped I would be able to answer most questions re the Tamar off the top of my head but I will have to check this out.  According to my lists, the bell should be part of the casting set (albeit a separate part) that glues on top of the resin mount as you say. It may be missing from the casting sets you have or from them all (?) so I will check it out and follow up on this thread ASAP, hopefully tomorrow. :-) :-

Well hear you go fellow Tamar builders, there are two alarm bells, one is mounted on the mast on the angled plate facing astern, the other is on the port side wall in front of the port side mast support storage box, they are made up from perspex and look like the photo.

There are pictures of  SA58 on Adrians disc that came with the Tamar kit and it shows the  round bit at the top of the sub assembly which is entitled alarm bell.

Still can't find the top bit !!!!!!

This is the part I am looking for. I have in my kit the orange base and outer ring, but it is the white and red part at the top I am looking for.

I think that this is what Ken is after too.

Well chaps, I am undone! I can see it now, I remember turning it, but it seems it never made it to the mould stage. Got lost somewhere I'm afraid so yes, it has to be made from scratch.  I will investigate further and it will be added in the future but not sure when that will be.  I'll try for next week and then say three weeks and I'll have some available. No promises though cos I'm up to my neck in work.  The landing craft has been a bit of a nightmare because of my work situation, I have been working away three nights a week so nothing has got done but thats finished now and I'm back on it.
I have to get it finished before I do anything else.
Also we have been producing step by step instructions covering every detail.

I know what your thinking.........

I have checked all my casting sets and they all have the casting in question in there. So yes. it is part of the kit.

Chris J, if you email me your address I will forward you one. Its sitting next to my PC right now.

One on its way Rich. If anyone else is missing that part please let me know and I'll send you one.
It is one item of four sharing a common pouring stub and they do come off easily so there may well be more than just the two of you.
Sorry chaps.
