Plastic Kit For R/C Conversion - Help Me Choose
« on: October 05, 2010, 11:08:42 am »

Hi All

Further to my thread regarding where to get Plastic Kits from,I have narrowed my choice
down to 2 models.

Revell Hermann Marwede or the Snowberry.

I would like to ask if anyone could tell me which they would recommend out of these 2 kits as a 1st
go at conversion?

Also, during my research I noticed a Brass Etched set of fittings for the Marwede, but could anyone
tell me where I may get these from please?

Your advice is appreciated.

Many thanks

Alan

Can only tell you about the Snowberry.

It's a nice size with more than enough room for electrics.

Ballasted to the waterline it will sail in all weathers.

If you want to spend a lot of money on it most parts are available in brass etch etc.

Hi All

Finally made a decision and got the Hermann Marwede.

Thanks to Martin at Westbourne Model Centre for his help and advice.

No doubt I will be back with some questions.

Hermann Marwede, good kit.

Just plan your drive train & radio layout way ahead of installing as i have heard of a couple of RC concversions were the modeller built themselves into  corner!

I think Blackjack2 was referring to photo etchings for the Revell / Matchbox Corvette....

Hi Martin

Here are the links to some photographs of the etches on the Marwede.

I think it looks excellent but I would hope it wouldn't make it too heavy for radio?

They do look good and shouldn't make the boat a bit roly but it doesn't look exsessive.
