Hello all, My latest project is an Isle of Man ferry, it will be 55 ins long with a 7in beam, I have 2x Monoperm motors and intend to fit 30mm props. Not sure if these motors are suitable can someone advise me. Thanking you in anticipation %)

Hi

I haven't any experience of Monoperms but I am very interested in how you get on. I have a 48" x 6" model of King Orry (iv) which currently runs 30mm props powered by a pair of bog standard 380s. These give a good performance on twin independent ESCs but I suspect the extra size of your hull would be too much for them. Which ship are your contemplating? Certainly the hull form of the traditional steamers is not overdemanding when it comes to motor power. I tried mine initially on 540s and thought she was trying to get up on the plane!

Personally I would go with Decaperms. The Monoperms I would save and use in models half that size.

Gerald.

The monoperms (or are they monoperm supers with the reversing switch on the rear?) will be underpowered for this model.
They like to rev , 5000 rpm, so you would only be able to use a plastic prop.
Anything larger and you will overload the motor.
These motors are ideal for smallish boats like the Caldercraft Cumbrae and Ryhope, but struggle on larger models.

The others are right. Monoperms are nice little motors but too small for your model.

They should be far more suitable and as with all Graupner Motors if you want a little bit more oomph they will take a reasonable voltage over their recommended voltage.
