Steam Engine Decision Choice

I am looking for a high-quality fully-machined marine steam engine kit that doesn't neccessarily cost the price of my first born child.
Can anyone give me some constructive advice, please?

A very popular choice is the Graham Industries collection of engine kits, the TVR1A for control and reversing capabilities and the VR1A for simplicity.

They are also very reasonably priced.

John, some indication of the size (bore and stroke) of engine or the type and size of boat you want it to power would make it easier to make a reccomendation. The Graham and the PM Research engines mentioned above are both very good value for money and there are others too but we need to know what you want to use it for. Cheers, Ian.

Hello All.
I have bought a twin cylinder steam engine, assembly very straight forward and very good value for money from Jotika, the engines are made in Australia and I belive it is a copy of a chedder engine.First run on air then on steam, runs  like a rolls, very good.

Would the VR1A be suitable for the midwest fantail launch?

Also what is a reccomended boiler?

I need an engine for a 48"-58" tugboat.
I would like a 3-4 cylinder.
