Club Newsletters

 :-))
Hi Guys & Gals,(especially to the lovely lady in India)
I am the Publicity Officer & General Dogsbody at Killingworth Model Boat Club up here in the North, just outside Newcastle, Home of Newcastle United (Howay the Lads)
I produce a bi-monthly newsletter for our Club Members, called Making Waves.   This is produced using Microsoft Picture It, and I use a Half Fold Card format.  This means that I can get 4 pages from a single page, each issue, and we are upto issue 21, has 16 pages, thus 4 double sided pages.
Do any other Clubs produce a Newsletter?, is so what format etc do you use.  I try to include a Passport Type Photo of the Club Member who has submitted the article, so that other members know WHO to contact if they have any queries.  Perhaps we could start a special section "Club Newsletters" so that everyone can benefit.  Any ideas welcome!!!!!

The two clubs of which I am a member, Burton on Trent and Cambridge, both produce A4 sized newsletters four times per year. I'm not sure what program they use. The Cambridge club is trying to phase out the paper version and distributes a PDF version by email.

Hi Barrie,
Thanks for the update, so that makes three Clubs who do a newsletter.  Would love to send ours out as a PDF, but we have (as most Clubs will have) a lot of senior members, who probably don't know how to switch a computer on, never mind read a PDF
Cheers

I also belong to two clubs, Shepton Mallet Difters who produce a newsletter every other month, alternating with our bi-monthly meeting, mainly via email (we may be old, but can still use a computer!) Yeovil Model Warships produces a hard copy whenever the chairman has time, or items of interest to give us!

We produce a newsletter as and when there is something to say, usually 2 -3 times a year. The format is literally a letter on A4 paper, printed both sides if required.

At Blackpool & Fylde we send a monthly letter, A4 of as many sheets as it takes, with the e-version sent out as its native .doc format.  Sending as a .pdf should be no problem as Adobe is almost compulsory.
Way back, I used to do a quarterly A5 size magazine on MS Publisher, handily one of our members had not only a photocopier, but a long stapler (2 of A4's folded =8 of A5 pages).  That eventually died off due to a lack of copy.  A newsletter has a natural flow of information, a club mag needs members to offer articles.

Couldn't agree more, luckily our members are a gobby lot, which Geordie isn't so I generally have quite a bit of copy.  Mind you it does cost a bob or two (5p or 10p) to decimal guys) for printing ink, you buy a printer for £40.00 and it costs you that much for inks.  Now buy in bulk direct (a lot cheaper)
I would post our Newsletter here but I think it would be TOO LARGE?
